Deadlock in Harrison: Red Bulls and St. Louis Play Out Scoreless Draw

· 2 min read

Red Bull New York and St. Louis CITY SC could not be separated at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey on Saturday, playing out a 0-0 draw that left both clubs with mixed feelings as the MLS playoff push enters its most critical phase.

Neither side was able to find a breakthrough across ninety minutes, with the clean sheet representing a measure of defensive resolve from both teams but doing little to excite a crowd hoping to see their side claim all three points.

For New York, a home draw is a result they will view as two points dropped rather than one gained, given the pressure of chasing a strong playoff position in the Eastern Conference. The Red Bulls will need to be sharper in front of goal in the matches that remain.

St. Louis, meanwhile, can take some encouragement from containing a Red Bulls side on their own patch, though a single point on the road does little to dramatically alter their standing. With the Western Conference playoff picture tightening, every dropped point now carries added weight.

Both clubs will turn their attention quickly to their next fixtures, knowing that draws of this kind can feel costly come the final weekend of the regular season.
