Alavés and Málaga Share the Spoils in Vitoria-Gasteiz Stalemate

La Liga's Friday night offering served up a competitive but ultimately inconclusive affair in Vitoria-Gasteiz, where Alavés and Málaga could not be separated, each side claiming a single goal in a 1–1 draw at Mendizorrotza.
The result will feel like an opportunity missed for both clubs. Alavés, playing in front of their own supporters, will have wanted to bank three points at home, while Málaga will be equally frustrated at failing to hold on for what would have been a valuable away victory.
Instead, each side takes a single point back to the table — a currency that feels thin for teams with ambitions of climbing the standings as the season enters its middle stretch.
The draw keeps the fixture's outcome firmly in the 'what might have been' category. With fixtures piling up across the division, both Alavés and Málaga will be eager to convert draws into wins when they return to action next week.
